The main active components of licorice are glycyrrhizic acid, glycyrrhiza flavone and glycyrrhiza polysaccharide, etc. Functions of glycyrrhizic acid include relieving cough and reducing phlegm, heat-clearing and detoxifying, anti-bacteria, anti-inflammation, liver protection, etc. As is a component with strong biological activity, Glycyrrhiza flavone features anti-oxidation, anti-ulcer, anti-bacteria, anti-inflammation, blood lipid reducing, anti-tumor, anti-HIV and liver protection.
